B Architecture or Bachelor’s in Architecture is a 5-year UG degree that educates students with knowledge about design and building. This course covers comprehensive topics about structural engineering, building construction, architectural design, environmental systems, urban planning, etc. This is well-suited for students who are creative, innovative, and have an interest in arts and design. The course combines theoretical and practical knowledge through design studios that teach students how to design, plan, and construct physical structures.

ELIGIBILITY

The candidates who want to pursue B Architecture must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must pass the Class 12th board exam in Science Stream, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as a mandatory subject.
  • The minimum aggregated percentage of all the subjects in the Class 12th board exam should be 50%.
  • The candidate must pass the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) which is conducted by the Council of Architecture(CoA). Some colleges do accept other entrance exam results such as AAT, JEE Mains, CUCET, and MHT CET.

DURATION AND COURSE STRUCTURE

The course is five years long with each year divided into 2 semesters making it a total of 10 semesters. The course is designed to combine theory and practical knowledge about different architectural topics so that the students can get a better and more comprehensive knowledge of the course.

SYLLABUS AND SUBJECTS

The course of B Arch may vary based on the college chosen, by broadly the syllabus is divided into core and elective subjects. Some common core subjects include Design Architecture, Architectural History and Theory, Building Science and Technology, Architectural Drawing and Graphics, Building Codes and Regulations, Building Services, Professional Practice, Landscape Design, Urban Design and Planning.

Other than these, elective subjects and specialization subjects such as Sustainable Design, Interior Design, and Historical Preservations are also included to make the course more diversified and flexible for all the students.

The syllabus of B. Arch is divided into 10 semesters out of which 6 semesters are focused on developing the basic architectural knowledge of the students. These include subjects and topics that explore the foundational filament of the architectural world. The other semesters focus more on practical aspects of architecture. Through design studios, students get hands-on experience with real-world design projects. It also boosts their creative problem-solving skills.

FEES STRUCTURE

The fee structure for a B.Arch course can vary from college to college. A tentative fee range is given below:

  • Government Colleges:- Rs 1,60,000 – 2,30,000
  • Private Colleges:- Rs 2,00000 and above.

URBAN PLANNER:The role of an urban planner is very important to create a sustainable urban area. Urban Planners develop land use plans and programs and work with government agencies for infrastructure planning, transportation systems, and public spaces.
