What are CLAT Exam Eligibility Criteria?

The candidates applying for the CLAT Exam have to fulfil the eligibility criteria stipulated for either the UG CLAT exam or the PG CLAT exam, depending on the programme they have selected. Eligibility Criteria for the UG CLAT Exam

Qualification 12th class pass from a recognised board with a minimum score of 45%. The minimum score for SC/ST candidates is 40%.
Candidates who are yet to appear for the 12th exam are also eligible, provided they fulfil the stipulated eligibility criteria.

CLAT Exam Admit Card

The CNLU will release the Admit Card on their official website. Candidates can download the Admit Card by accessing the website. This is an important document that the candidate should produce in the exam centre along with other essential documents.

 

Steps to Download

To download the Admit Card, the candidates have to:

  • Access the official CNLU website, i.e., consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
  • Login with login credentials.
  • Click on the ‘CLAT’ tab.
  • Select the ‘Candidate Login’ portal.
  • Login with mobile number and password.
  • Click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ option.
  • Verify the details on the Admit Card visible on the computer screen.
  • Download and save the Admit Card.

 

Exam day Guidelines

The following exam day guidelines given in the Admit Card have to be diligently followed by the candidates for a hassle-free CLAT exam experience.

  • The candidates can enter the exam centre 1 hour before the exam time and up to 15 minutes after the exam commences.
  • Once they enter the exam hall, they will not be allowed to leave till the finishing time.
  • Clarifications regarding question papers will not be permitted during the exam.
  • If the candidates find their question booklet unsealed or notice any discrepancy, they can get the booklet changed.
  • They have to enter the QB number and OMR response sheet number and sign in the space provided in the attendance sheet.
  • Candidates will be allowed to take the signed Admit Card and the question booklet while leaving the exam hall after completing the exam.

 

What to Carry with Your Admit Card on Exam Day

Candidates have to compulsorily carry the following along with their Admit Card on the exam day.

  • Blue and black ballpen
  • A transparent water bottle
  • Valid Photo ID proof like a Voter’s ID Card, Aadhar Card, etc.
  • An analogue watch

 

What Not to Carry With Your Admit Card on Exam Day

Candidates are prohibited from carrying the following items along with their Admit Card on the exam day.

  • Study material or notes (handwritten)
  • Mobile phones, calculators, or smartwatches
  • Food items

CLAT Exam Examination Centers

The CLAT exam will be conducted at 131 centres spread across the country. The list of centres will be available on the website. The candidates can check the centres available and choose the centres that are the closest and most convenient. They will have to give a choice of 3 centres picked from the dropdown in the order of preference while filling up the application form.

CLAT Answer Key

After the CLAT Exam, CNLU releases a provisional answer key to the CLAT question papers; candidates can access this answer key on the CNLU website to compare their answers and assess their scores.

How to Calculate Marks Using Answer Key

The candidates have to compare the answers in their response sheet with the answers in the answer key and calculate the marks in the following way:

Every right answer: 1 mark. Every wrong answer: -0.25 marks.
For instance, if 95 answers out of 120 are correct and 25 are wrong, the marks obtained will be:

1 x 92=92
0.25 x 28=7
Total marks=92-7=85

 

Steps to challenge

CNLU provides the provision to challenge if the candidate finds any discrepancy in the answer key or the question paper. The steps to follow to raise objections are:

  • Login to the CNLU website with login credentials.
  • Click on the ‘Submit Objections’ option.
  • Choose the type of objection-answer key/question paper.
  • Provide the details of the objections.
  • Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  • Follow the steps for every objection.
  • The process will be completed when making the payment.
  • Every objection attracts a fee.

 

CLAT Exam Result

CLAT Merit List

The CNLU will announce a merit list online based on the marks scored by the candidates. The merit list can be downloaded from the website. It will contain details of marks obtained and the candidate's rank. The all-India rank and category rank will also be mentioned.

CLAT Cut Off

The cutoff is determined individually by the NLUs in the consortium. The cutoff depends on the rank of the last candidate admitted to the NLU in a specific category. The cutoff determined is influenced by various factors like:

  • The complexity of the exam.
  • NLU preference of the candidate.
  • Number of seats offered by the NLU.
  • Marks and rank of the candidate.
  • The reservation policy of the NLU.
