BSc Nursing or Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing is a 4-year UG degree that educates and prepares students with nursing knowledge. This course focuses on training the students with essential skills that are required for essential patient care, life-saving medical procedures, and healthcare management.

The course is designed in such a way that, along with theoretical knowledge, the students also garner and get hands-on practical knowledge through clinical training and internships in various hospitals and healthcare facilities. These clinical trainings help students understand and learn procedures from their seniors and experience them in real life.

ELIGIBILITY

The candidates who want to pursue a BSc in Nursing must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must pass the Class 12th board exam in the Science Stream, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects.
  • The minimum aggregated percentage of all the subjects in the Class 12th board exam should be 50%.
  • The admission to BSc Nursing is both merit and entrance exam-based. While some colleges follow merit-based admission processes, others consider entrance exam scores, which include NEET, AIIMS, CUET, etc

DURATION AND COURSE STRUCTURE

The course is four years long, with each year divided into 2 semesters, making it a total of 8 semesters. The semesters are designed to combine theoretical and practical knowledge. The course also includes clinical training, where students spend a critical amount of time in hospitals and healthcare facilities, getting hands-on experience about different medical and nursing procedures and healthcare management. Along with that, the students have to undergo an internship, which can last from 6 months to 1 year.

SYLLABUS AND SUBJECTS

The syllabus of BSc Nursing includes a wide range of subjects. The semester is divided into 8 semesters, with each semester focusing on both theoretical and practical courses. The subjects are divided into core and elective subjects.

The core subjects include Anatomy, pharmacology, biochemistry, public health nursing, medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric nursing, and Sociology.

Some of the elective subjects include child health nursing, midwifery and obstetrical nursing, and nursing and research statistics.

FEES STRUCTURE

The fee structure for a BSc Nursing course can vary from college to college. A tentative fee range is given below:

  • Government Colleges:- Rs 7000 – 1,50,000 per annum
  • Private Colleges:- Rs 50,000 - 3,00,000 per annum
