What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is an alternative medicine practice that works by introducing small doses of medicine into your body to treat the symptoms of the disease.
The principle of homeopathy revolves around the idea that like cures like, which means that a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy body can cure the symptoms in a diseased body. Homeopathy was founded by a German physician, Samuel Hahnemann, in the 18th century.
Homeopathy uses minute doses of medicines derived from plants, animals, minerals, and herbs to treat a symptom. Which means that homeopathy affects and treats the body with a slower pace compared to the normal medicines.

Some basic principles of homeopathy

Law of minimal dose:
It states that a lower medicine dose will work more effectively to eradicate a symptom of a disease than a normal dose or a higher dose of medicine.

Individualisation of treatment:
Every individual is different, and the way that symptoms affect the body is also different, hence, we need a customised medicinal treatment to cure an individual.

Law of similars:
like cures like, which means that a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy body can cure the symptoms in an ill body.

Scope of homeopathy

India is a huge contributor to homeopathy, with colleges all over India offering homeopathic courses and over 2,00,000 doctors in this field already working and contributing.
The Indian government promotes this alternative medicine through the Ministry of AYUSH [Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy].
Homeopathy is practiced in over 80 other countries, including France, Germany, and many more, which recognize homeopathy as an alternative medicine.

A roadmap to becoming a homeopathy doctor

Eligibility:
To be eligible to apply for the B.H.M.S. course in a medical college, either government or private, you need to be be least 17 years or older

A person has to graduate from high school from a trusted board, which means that you must complete 10+2 before applying to medical college for BHMS.

A person has to complete in school education with physics, chemistry, and biology as the primary subjects.

Entrance exam: NEET is the required entrance exam that allows students to apply for medical colleges for homeopathy courses.

BHMS is a medical course that is 5.5 years long, with 4.5 years of academic and 1 year of internship

Entrance exam for BHMS: NEET

Eligibility: complete your high school, which is 10+2, with physics, chemistry, and biology,gy with at least 50% marks for the general category and 45% for other categories like sc/ST/OBC and EWS
The entrance exam is conducted by the NTA National Testing Agency on a national level, which consists of 200 questions that consist of 720 marks total.
After taking the NEET exam and the result, you can apply to formal colleges that offer BHMS.

Registration and licensing

After getting your degree and graduating from MD, you need to register yourself as a homeopathy medical practitioner before opening your clinic or working in a government or a private hospital.

CCH Central Council of Homeopathy

It is a central level of authority where you need to register yourself to get a practicing license.
It regulates the academic and practice of homeopathy in India.

State homeopathy councils

These are the state-level homeopathy councils for regulating the practice of homeopathy, issuing licenses, and registration.
